It's friday...

...and the beginning of another 4 days off work...good times!!  Although it didn't start so well yesterday!  As soon as I finished work, I had to go to the dentist for 2 fillings and a clean; I say 2 fillings and a clean, more like 20 minutes of sadistic tools, heat torches, mouth vacuums sucking the very life out of me and a very sore jaw afterwards.  Yep, that's right, I absolutely despise the dentist...always have, always will!  I then had to cancel my debit card for fear of its information being compromised...yes, Sony strike again!  Due to the Playstation Network being hacked and hackers obtained a possible 77 million people's card details, I wasn't taking the risk!

But, that was yesterday, and today will involve a trip to the cinema to see Thor, a trip to Chiquitas for some yummy food, a trip to Wickes for some DIY stuff and hopefully a good couple of hours writing!  I entered another competition yesterday and am getting into the swing on my fairy short story as well.  Anyways, I think its time to wander the wasteland and get some quests done on Fallout: New Vegas for a few hours.

So, to it!

Writing...

...is obviously why I am here, why I started this blog, why I have a Facebook page and ultimately what I want to be remembered for.

So, Easter weekend, I managed to get some writing done.  Finished off, proof read and posted my 750 short story for The Writing Magazine competition.  I also finished off, proof read and posted off a poetry mini competition for The Writing Magazine which was all about rhyming slang.  I have started work on another short story competition for The Writing Magazine which has to be about fairies and has to appeal to adults...no children's fairy stories this time!

I have been entering these competitions fairly consistently over the last 4 years and have been shortlisted twice for my poetry which is something I am very proud of.  I also write poetry for The Erotic Woman website and have had 4 published on the site which again, I am very proud of.  I do dream of writing an Oscar winning film or a poem as complex and vivid as Homer or even a television series as well written as Battlestar Galactica or The Shield...maybe one day!!

So for now, I write as much as I can (having a full time, stressful job can get in the way) and enter as many competitions as possible whilst searching and seeking through my brain for that one piece of originality that may get me noticed.

Sunday morning...

...the birds are being especially loud this morning, the cat is out mooching about, hiding behind the shed, chasing bees and generally just being a butt!

So, new Doctor Who last night and it was very good!  A intriguing story, good acting (as always) and a darker start to the season.  Also good to see Battlestar Galactica's Mark Sheppard back on screen.  It even went a bit Watchmen when the alien blew up the woman in the toilet!

After that, me and my girl watched The Box...Richard 'Donnie Darko' Kelly's 3rd film as director.  It was good...pretty good...sort of good...a little confusing...a bit talky...but it was good!!  As you can probably tell, I can't quite make up my mind about it.  I did enjoy it but it is definitely not as good as Donnie Darko or Southland Tales.  It does have an intriguing story and it does leave it open to personal interpretation which is something that most films don't do these days, most films signpost and explain everything without taking many if any risks.  It is worth watching though.

Anyways, back to it!

KISS Frisbee...

...that's right, after getting up nice and early this morning, doing a bit of writing and playing a bit of PS3, me and my girl take a walk over to the field with a football and a KISS Frisbee!!  Is it me or are Frisbee's better with KISS faces on, see for yourself and let me know!!

After that, we gave our bedroom a move around, cleared some junk and took it to the skip.  We are in the process, albeit slowly, of clearing the house and getting it to a sell able state.  Something which hopefully will happen in the next 5 years or so.  After that, it was a catch up on some television, Van Damme Behind Closed Doors to be precise, before frozen pizza for dinner.

Now, as my girl catches up on American Idol, I get to do some writing whilst listening to some Black Sabbath...all in all, a very good day!!!

Its the holiday...

...the bank holiday to be precise, 4 glorious days off work then a short week and another 4 glorious days off!  Joy and more joy!!  I plan to get some quality writing time done as well as enjoying the sunshine, clearing out some junk from the house and watching the new series of the mighty Doctor Who.

I am also going to spend an obscene amount of time on my PS3.  Yes, I am a gamer...a hardcore gamer!  At the moment I am playing the excellent Fallout: New Vegas which has you wander a desolate land where bottle caps are currency, do all sorts of missions, meet all sorts of characters, make all sorts of moral decisions...it really is a world onto itself!  In fact, I recommend it to any writers out there.

Games like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Silent Hill, and many many more are full of great writing, brilliant characters, story lines that twist, turn and shock and moments that are as emotionally engaging than any film out there.  In fact, games like Metal Gear Solid 4 with its final cut scene clocking in at nearly 90 minutes long become an entity like nothing else.

My writing...

...so I am just putting the finishing touches to my short story.  It's about a character who is surviving after some sort of calamity has left the Earth being battered by savage winds and fallout type sand.  Very much end of the world stuff...which I love! 'I Am Legend' is one of my all time favourite books and films like 'The Road', the Mad Max films and Romero's zombie films are my favourites.  I enjoy watching how people react and live after some massive tragedy has happened...it makes for compelling viewing/reading!!

Other projects I am working on are mainly poetry for competitions, keeping my Facebook page, bROken ThoughTS, up to date, and, putting the finishing touches to my first book which is a collection of poetry and short stories on the subject of love and suicide.

Everton vs Blackburn...

...so I went to my first football match yesterday and I gotta admit, it was an experience!!  I loved it and couldn't take my eyes off it!  The noise when Everton scored, the passion shown by the fans, the sheer atmosphere surrounding Goodison...it was amazing!  I will definitely go again!  I got a few snaps, one of which is included here!

Its the end of the week...

...that magical day when the ordinary 9-5 is over for another week and the fun begins!  So, for the first time EVER, I am going to watch a football match with my girlfriend and her sister-Everton vs Blackburn.  It will be an interesting experience!  I am continuing to write my short story for a competition and will start work on some poetry, also for competitions.  And of course, I will be back and forth on my blog!
